PROGRAM

A system of services offered by an organization. For example, an organization providing a mental health service may offer several mental health programs to different populations, e.g., a mental health program for adolescent teens. The word "program" can be used interchangeably with the word "service" or to describe specific programs.

PA-OAS 7: Supervision

 
Participants are supervised, and group size is adjusted to promote safety and limit liability and risk.

PA-OAS 7.01

 

Group size is adjusted according to:

  1. the nature of the activity;
  2. the age and abilities of participants; and
  3. applicable legal requirements.

PA-OAS 7.02

 

Group activities are supervised by:

  1. at least two group leaders or instructors; and
  2. additional staff when known risks are present.

PA-OAS 7.03

 

At least one person assigned to an adventure activity or group:

  1. is certified by an organization with recognized expertise in the activity area when such certification is available; or
  2. has documented and verified training and actual experience, and can demonstrate competence in conducting the particular activity.
