Treatment decisions are guided by a qualified team and are made with the individual’s involvement.

A
clinical team makes decisions about level of care, treatment, and
discharge planning and includes the
service recipient and a licensed physician, or other qualified health professional with professional experience,
training, and competence in diagnosing and treating alcohol and other drug problems.
A licensed physician, or another qualified health professional, with experience, training, and competence in engaging, diagnosing, and treating persons with alcohol and other drug problems is responsible for the medical aspects of substance use or dependency treatment, including:
- prescribing and/or supervising medication; and
- providing or reviewing diagnostic, toxicological, and other health related examinations of persons not currently under medical care and supervision.
